Greetings Carrot River! What a great web site! I recently travelled overseas and while I was there, I had many questions about Carrot River. Now I can give this address to all my friends across around the world so they can see it for themselves (now maybe they will actually believe how much snow we get and how cold it is!!) Good site.I am from Aylsham where my parents Bert&Lucille Valleau still live.I have lived in Squamish for the past 22 years and have worked in the logging industry all that time as a logging truck driver.As a kid I played hockey against Carrot River.Again good site.Nice to have a connection to home. Sorry about that the first one took off before I could type more then four words. It gave the old heart strings a little tug to see my old home town listed on the net. My parents Harry and Katherine Seller came to Carrot River in 1939/40 and homesteaded 3 miles from the town of Carrot River. I was born in the old hospital in Carrot River on Mothers Day May 9,1943. My parents sold their farm in 1957 and moved to Regina. I have only managed to return to Carrot River once since then but still hold very fond memories of a wonderful place to grow up with kind and giving neighbors and friends. Your web site has brought back a flood of cherished memories. Thank you... Sharon Kemila.

I grew up in Carrot River. I completed all my schooling there and graduated from high school in 1962. I was in the first class to go through high school and graduate from what was then the "new" school. It seemed to be such a big building then! My parents, Emil & Lillian Wilm, spent most of their adult lives in Carrot River. My grandparents, August & Marie Nicloux, farmed about 2 miles west of town. During high school, I worked part time in the O.K. Economy and Co-op stores. I carried, packed and delivered groceries for most of the people in town and in the country for about 30 miles around. I used to know just about every family in the area, at least by name. I have many fond memories of growing up in Carrot River and I've been back many times over the years, the latest visit being last summer. I must say that the town used to be a lot more vibrant. Main street was a beehive of activity, especially on Saturday, when the rural folk came to town to shop and visit. You had to get down town early to get a parking spot! Now it seems to rather dead. But that's progress I suppose. Anyway, I'm glad I've found my old home town on the net and I've book-marked the page for future reference. Is there, by chance, a local history book for Carrot River and area? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank You for an excellent site. It is very informative and useful to anyone planning to visit the area as I will be. You provide just enough historical info to give a visitor a deeper appreciation of the area. I plan on doing some whitetail deer hunting in the Carrot River area and if any hunters/outdoor enthusiasts can provide a little feedback, it would be appreciated. I was surprised to hear you had a web site. I was born near your area on 12/6/21. My Birth Certificate states I was born on Sec.7,Tp49,Rge11,W2nd, Saskatchewan. I believe it is about 5 miles south of ,Carrot river,. We left there when I was only 2 years old.

Great Web Site- My grandfather and his brother homesteaded the Moose Range in 1912. My dad was born in a log cabin (we have a picture, hides and snow shoes on the walls) in 1921. They later moved to California. My grand father and his brother were there when the town was named. He had many many stories of swamps, growing wheat, swamps, moose hunting, and swamps...also the winters!!!!

Awsome site guys!! Great information available on your site, you certainly put a lot of thought into it. It's been about 7 years since Ive been back Carrot River and looks like it may be about time to get back for a visit. I grew up in Carrot River and moved away in 1980. I have made a few trips back since then, but this is the longest stretch I've gone without seeing the praires. I think winter might be a great time to see Carrot River this year. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
